Where do you find dental practices for sale?
Dental practices are sold almost entirely through practice brokers and, less often, through state dental association classifieds and direct dentist-to-dentist deals. There is no MLS for dental practices, so listings are scattered across more than a hundred broker websites. The Dental Practice Market aggregates 196 of those sources into one searchable, free index updated daily.
The four channels
Practice brokers. The large majority of published listings. A broker represents the seller, prepares the practice, markets it confidentially and runs the transaction. Each broker publishes only their own inventory, on their own website, in their own format — which is why buyers end up with twenty browser tabs open.
State dental association classifieds. Many state associations run a classifieds section for members. These are real listings and often the only place a particular practice appears, but they are thin on detail and rarely updated on a schedule.
Lender and transition-service marketplaces. Banks and dental-transition firms sometimes publish listings as a way to originate loans. Coverage is uneven and often duplicates broker inventory.
Word of mouth. Study clubs, dental society meetings, suppliers and reps. Nothing is published, and a practice can be sold this way before it is ever listed.
What every listing hides, on purpose
No published listing shows the practice name or street address, and that is not an oversight. If staff, patients or referring dentists learn a practice is for sale before the transition is arranged, they leave. The broker is the intentional gatekeeper: they release identity, full financials and a walkthrough after a buyer signs a confidentiality agreement.
What you can compare before signing anything: metro area, specialty, size, and whatever financial outline the broker chose to publish.
What this site does with that
The Dental Practice Market pulls 196 sources into one index — 3,667 practices across 51 states as of Sep 11, 2026 — and links every listing back to the broker holding it. It is free, needs no login, and takes no cut. It is not a broker and never becomes one: to reach a listing you go to that broker.
